Try to imagine a life without timekeeping. You probably can`t. You know the month, the year, the day of the week. There is a clock on your wall or the dashboard of your car. You have a schedule, a calendar, a time for dinner or a movie. Yet all around you, timekeeping is ignored. Birds are not late. A dog does not check its watch. Deer do not fret over passing birthdays. an alone measures time. Man alone chimes the hour. And, because of this, man alone suffers a paralyzing fear that no other creature endures. A fear of time running out.
In order to move on, you must understand why you felt what you did and why you no longer need to feel it.
People say they "find" love, as if it were an object hidden by a rock. But love takes many forms, and it is never the same for any man and woman. What people find then is a certain love.
There`s a story behind everything. How a picture got on a wall. How a scar got on your face. Sometimes the stories are simple, and sometimes they are hard and heartbreaking. But behind all your stories is always your mother`s story, because hers is where yours begin.
There is everything you know and there is everything that happens. When the two do not line up, you make a choice.
This is the greatest gift God can give you: to understand what happened in your life. To have it explained. It is the peace you have been searching for.
Death doesn`t just take someone, it misses someone else, and in the small distance between being taken and being missed, lives are changed.
The culture we have does not make people feel good about themselves. We`re teaching the wrong things. And you have to be strong enough to say if the culture doesn`t work, don`t buy it. Create your own. Most people can`t do it.
